Local Talent: An interview with Singer Stefan Galea

Stefan Galea is a local singer and was one of the 20 finalasits of this year`s MESC. For Stefan this was his first experience in the MESC. Stefan competed with the song Light up my Light. We asked Stefan a few questions.

When did you first begin your singing career and who encourage/inspired you to do so?

I’ve started singing at the age of five with Doreen Galea, I always had a passion for music to the point were I aspired to be an artist just like my fellow competitors, No one ever pushed me into this, since it has always been a passion of mine.

If you could pick a famous singer to sing with whom would it be and why?

Jessie J, she is such an inspirational woman and artist with perfect vocals every single time! She is one of those artists who has something unique going on about her.

How was your experience in this year’s MESC?

It was incredible and surreal, one of my career highlights so far, the PBS team was truly professional. I had an incredible feeling and vibe from the crowd whilst I was performing on stage, I was truly lost in my world and it was a dream to compete in Malta’s biggest and most prestigious festival. Eurovision was an obvious choice at a point in my career were I was focusing on having more radio material released.

What else can we expect from you in the future?

Light Up My Life is going to be released on all radio platforms and also on iTunes, I have just got back to the studio and we are working on my new EP, in fact the first single from the EP is ready but I won’t reveal much just yet. And hopefully giving the eurovision another go.

What skills/personal attributes are most important to being successful?

One needs to work hard and have a clear vision of what he wants, thus he needs to be determined and most importantly to never give up. One has to work for success because nothing comes easy in life, but if you are determined you can achieve anything.

What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

Never give up or let the fear strike in, just keep on playing the game.
