Interview with Local Singer and Vocal Coach Lyndsay Pace

Lyndsay Pace is a 26 year old singer and songwriter from the town of Swieqi, Ibragg. In 2015 Lyndsay has been selected as a full time vocal coach at the comprehensive La Voix Academy under the direction of Gillian Attard whilst combining music tuition of the highest standard with innovative approaches to music education. We have met with Lyndsay and asked her a few questions.

  • When did you start singing, which is your favourite music and what or who were your early passions or influences?

My musical influences vary from many artists and different types of genres mainly commercial pop/rock/r&b music such as Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Jessie J, Coldplay, Adele, Emile’ Sande etc. I always had an ultimate passion for music which had always been evident from a relatively young age carrying my natural presence and self-confident abilities through each of my stage performances.

My talents had been mainly recognised clearly as I shown clear interest in the subjects of singing, dancing and drama thus taking up lessons before evolving my hobbies into more of a passion, quckly becoming a serious career.

In fact, I have been taking Speech Level Singing training and master class courses for a couple of years from a number of professional tutors based in the United Kingdom.

What is the most memorable singing experience?

I think that the most memorable singing experience is my participation in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in th year 2015 with the song “Home” written and produced by Boris Cezek where I had been selected with the top 20 finalists. This opportunity unraveled a turning point in my career, being the most popular local festival and a major stepping stone to local artists.

Currently you are a Vocal Coach at the La Voix Academy. Tell us a bit about your experience and what do you think about the young local artist. What do you like about what you do?

It has always been my dream job and nothing makes me any happier than doing what I love! The academy is like a second family to me and I strongly feel that there’s so much talent waited to be discovered on our island. I also feel that being a vocal coach maintains a certain responsibility yet gives me so much satisfaction both on a professional aswell as on a personal level. ┬áThis is mainly because I believe that I can be an inspiration or role model on many aspects towards my students and this has undoubtedly made me the person I am today.

What is most challenging and most rewarding about what you do?

Just like any other occupations, everything has its pros and cons when it comes to this question. I think that the most challenging thing is trying to promote my position in the musical education which I think is lacking and not much of a priority in the local market yet the most rewarding thing in what I do is seeing my students developing and growing in their talents as professional singers and achieving positive results mostly in local and also foreign festivals. It’s such a great feeling!

What are your goals/dreams for the future?

I would like to expand further in my music career both as a singer aswell as a vocal coach and hopefully establish myself on an international standard too.

Do you have a message to our followers who would like to start Singing but are afraid or shy to do so.

The music world has taught me to become a much more confident, outgoing and stronger person from my personal point of view whilst always being presented in the spotlight having to accept all types of criticism and different opinions. I have learnt that that the most important thing is to always believe in yourself, never let anyone break you down and don’t be afriad to start new adventures. This is my message to our followers because at the end of the day I think that every individual is special in their own unique way.
